Silvia Furtwängler, one of the world’s best musher, initially only wanted one dog who would accompany her on her bike. In 1985 she participated in her first sled dog race and since 2008 has lived with her family and 43 huskies in the Norwegian highlands. In the “Volga Quest”, an extremely challenging race both for people and animals, she wasn’t just the only woman to finish – she also won the race.
